President Donald Trump on Monday said NBA players would be treated differently if they were under the age of 25 if they are white, as opposed to Asian-Americans and Hispanics.
“What do you mean by that?
I don’t know,” Trump told Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co.””
Are they white, Hispanic, or Asian-American?
Because you know, the NBA is going to be made up of all those categories.
But I think they’re treated differently, if they’re under the 25-year-old age category, because I think it’s going to have an impact.””
I don’t think they are,” Trump continued.
“I think they get treated differently because of their race.
And I think this is going be a very big deal.”
Trump’s comments come a day after the league announced the league would not begin counting the number of African-Americans or Hispanics on its rosters until 2020.
The league said the change would help combat racial inequality, as well as prevent bias against minorities in the sport.
